The 7-Day Adventure involves a wide number of activities – volunteering at two Charity Projects, organising a sports day for local disadvantaged children, connecting with the local community, enjoying a festival atmosphere at Athletes’ Village, running an incredible race, and more.
But if you don’t feel the seven days is quite enough, and you’d like to explore more of what the beautiful country of Uganda has to offer, we’ve prepared three special tour packages for our runners. You can do these either before or after the main week.
Make the most of your time in the Uganda and see more of what this magical place has to offer, and turn an amazing week into the holiday of a lifetime!
Gorilla Trekking
This tour takes places over 3 days and 2 nights, giving you the chance to see a family of gorillas in the wild.
You’ll trek through the rainforest in Bwindi to locate our closet relatives, a special experience in itself as you explore one of Uganda’s most stunning locations. Then, come face-to-face with a band of gorillas – including infants, mothers and even the mighty silverback!
- Runner’s Story – read Helen’s experience of the Gorilla Trekking after the 7-Day Adventure, where she realised a ‘lifelong dream’. This extension was a big reason for her signing up for the main event.
Gorilla Trekking & Safari
Spanning 5 days and 4 nights, this tour includes everything mentioned in the Gorilla Trekking above, plus exploring one Uganda’s most famous tourist attractions – Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Located in the Savannah Plains between the Ruwenzori Mountains, it is the home to 100 different type of mammals and 600 species of bird. Embark on game drives and also a boat ride along the Kazinga Channel. Expect to see lots of exciting wildlife along the way including elephants, buffalos, hippos, leopards, waterbucks, warthogs, many species of birds, and the rare tree-climbing lion!
- Runner’s Story – read Max’s experience of doing the gorilla trek and safari before the 7-Day Adventure. The way this tour linked up with the main week helped make the perfect holiday plans for him, even though he travelled to Uganda not knowing anyone. Funnily enough, the people he met on this tour ended up becoming his ‘safari family’ for the main 7-days too!
- Runner’s Story – read Amy’s feedback of participating in this tour package after the 7-Day Adventure, as she wanted to make the most of her first time in Africa. In her words, it’s something she would ‘definitely recommend’.
Safari & Rhino Sanctuary
Our third tour is based at Murchison Falls National Park. It takes place over 3 days and 2 nights.
Here you’ll see where the mighty River Nile pushes through a narrow gorge to create the famous waterfall. In this scenic national park, you’ll get the chance to see and walk with Uganda’s only surviving wild Rhinos. Then, via game drive and boat ride, prepare to see hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks, lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, hyenas, various birds and more.
