In the heart of Masaka’s ghettos, many young people struggle daily with poverty, violence, and the uncertainty of life on the streets. Bridges of Hope was founded by rehabilitated youth who have overcome these very challenges and are now committed to transforming the lives of their peers. Through hands-on coffee farming training, young people gain skills to grow seedlings, manage small agribusinesses, and earn income to improve their lives. With support for tools, irrigation, and quality seedlings, contributions directly enhance their skills, earnings, and future opportunities. Thanks to last year’s generous support, Bridges of Hope purchased land, built a greenhouse, and planted 50,000 coffee seedlings, providing youth with income, education, healthcare, and hope. Building on this success, we are now ready to take the next transformative step.
In 2026, we aim to build a Children’s Home to provide street and ghetto youth with shelter, safety, healthcare, and a nurturing environment, giving them dignity, hope, and a foundation for a journey from survival to self-reliance.
We are seeking to raise $17,138 to make this vision a reality.

Many elderly people in Masaka live in extreme poverty, often without pensions or social safety nets. Elderly people face serious health challenges, limited access to care, and a shortage of essential services, while social isolation, abuse, and cultural stigma—especially around dementia—further marginalize and exclude them. Access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene services is also limited, creating additional health risks.
The Light House Elderly Home Care organisation works tirelessly to support these vulnerable individuals aged 70 and above, providing healthcare, companionship, recreational activities, physical exercise, and nutritional support. However, the organization’s capacity to help is limited by a lack of funding, leaving many elderly people without the care, safety, and social connection they desperately need.
The project will purchase land to construct and operate a safe, comfortable, and accessible residential home staffed with trained caregivers and healthcare professionals, collaborating with local healthcare providers and community organizations. The project is dedicated to improving the quality of life for elderly residents by fostering dignity, companionship, and tender care.
Join us to raise $ 13,900 and turn your run into a powerful act of compassion and change.

In Uganda, HIV continues to weigh heavily on women, with prevalence rates as high as 7.2%. Behind this number are countless stories of resilience—women battling stigma in their workplaces, struggling to provide for HIV-orphaned children, and carrying the crushing weight of financial pressure while fighting illness. Health is Wealth Women Development Association, a women-led community group in Kyalugo Village, Masaka, is rewriting this story. Made up of HIV-positive mothers, orphaned children, and single mothers facing deep poverty, their mission is simple yet powerful: To break free from dependence, build financial independence, and create a brighter future.
Through their poultry project, these women are already working to generate income, put food on the table, and pay for basic needs like sanitary pads or medical care for their children. By scaling up, they will become financially independent without having to rely on male partners who often exploit them financially or subject them to gender-based violence. But right now, their progress is held back. “Our biggest challenges are lack of funds to buy more chickens, and chicken feeds,” Project beneficiary.
By raising $7,450, women will buy more chicken and chicken feeds, you will empower women and their orphans to lead the life they need.

Bugabira Primary School in Masaka, Uganda, is facing a severe water crisis. Its 300 children rely on contaminated swamp water, leading to poor hygiene, waterborne diseases, and reduced concentration in class, while placing additional medical bills financial strain on already struggling families.
To solve its urgent water crisis, Bugabira Primary School plans to install a durable rainwater harvesting system that captures rooftop rainwater, stores it safely in underground and elevated tanks, and distributes it via taps around the campus. This cost-effective, sustainable solution will provide clean water for drinking, cooking, and hygiene, reduce reliance on unsafe swamp sources, lower preventable illnesses, and create a healthier, more focused learning environment for the children.
We invite you to join us in raising $9,800 to make this life-changing project a reality.

The majority of maternal deaths occur during delivery and the immediate postnatal period as a result of delays in seeking care, failure to reach health institutions, and receiving inappropriate health care. Every mother deserves the chance to bring new life into the world safely
New Life Health Facility, located in Kinobero village Masaka is dedicated to saving the lives of mothers and children through providing free antenatal and managing childhood illness to families. During labor, referring pregnant mothers to access further management of complications in hospitals has become challenging due lack of appropriate transport means.
Acquiring a Tuk Tuk ambulance would significantly improve emergency response, enable timely referrals, and ultimately reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rates, thereby saving lives, improving health outcomes, and enhancing the overall quality of care provided by the facility.
Kindly support New Life Health Facility raise $ 4,700 to buy a Tuk-Tuk ambulance
Beka Infant and Primary School, located in Nyendo Town, Masaka City, was established in 2017 as a nursery and primary school, serving children aged 4 to 14. Currently, the school enrolls 615 learners—360 girls and 255 boys—taught by 18 dedicated teachers. Many students come from nearby communities, while others travel long distances and are accommodated in the school’s boarding section. The majority of learners come from low-income families with limited resources and opportunities, making access to quality education a significant challenge. The school’s mission is to nurture students with strong moral values while striving for academic excellence. By supporting this project, donors to the Uganda Marathon will directly empower 615 learners, helping them achieve their full potential while fostering a brighter future for the community.
Over the next five years, Beka Infant and Primary School aims to improve academic performance, develop student life skills, and expand infrastructure by constructing 10 classrooms, 2 dormitories, and a library. Despite these ambitions, the school faces pressing challenges, the most urgent being severe classroom congestion. Learners are currently overcrowded in small wooden classrooms, which makes teaching and learning difficult and hinders academic progress.
To address the critical need for space, the school is requesting funding worth $ 35,000 to construct seven additional classrooms. Kindly click the donation button at the bottom of this page and choose how you would like to support us.

Youth unemployment remains one of the biggest challenges facing communities in Greater Masaka. With only 36% of young people accessing meaningful employment and a rapidly growing labour force (4.7% per year), many are left vulnerable. Too often, this forces youth into risky and unproductive paths, such as prostitution, drug abuse, and crime, just to survive.
Classic Vocational Skills Development Initiative, a community-based organization operating within Greater Masaka, has over the past 11 years, demonstrated a strong commitment to empowering youth through vocational training and holistic development programs. Their mission to address the diverse needs of young people and combat poverty has yielded tangible impact, with numerous success stories emerging from their areas of operation.
At the moment, Classic Vocational is seeking support for the Embroidery & Knitting Vocational Skills Empowerment Project, a powerful initiative designed to create opportunities and transform futures. Our goal is to empower 350 youth every year with modern vocational skills, raising household incomes and creating sustainable livelihoods in Greater Masaka and beyond.
Your donation will go a long way in helping us purchase industrial knitting machines, train 350 youth annually with marketable knitting skills enabling them to tap into the high demand for garments from schools, institutions, and individuals, creating sustainable livelihoods in Greater Masaka and beyond.

“Just completed my first half marathon around the Ugandan countryside! Scenery was breathtaking and, despite the most brutal hills I’ve ever run/walked up, the local kids that came out to cheer us on were incredible motivation! Thanks to the Uganda Marathon team for putting on such an amazing week.”
