We’re extremely excited to announce we have been shortlisted in the category for ‘Best International Event’, at this year’s Running Awards!

This places the Marathon alongside some huge and long established races- also nominated in the same category- the New York Marathon, Athens Marathon and Boston Marathon.

The last 12 months have been very successful for the Uganda Marathon. Last May saw us hold our first ever event, where 1,200 runners ran our 10K, half marathon or full marathon course. The 72 International Runners who joined us for the six-day adventure fundraised a massive £78,000! Using this money, we’ve been able to work in partnership with nine Uganda Charity Projects, to develop them in long-term, sustainable ways that will benefit generations.

The Marathon has also been featured in The Guardian, London Evening Standard and Runner’s World, and listed in the Wall Street Journal’s Extra Mile 40 Awards.

And the Uganda Marathon is shaping up to be even bigger this year, with a record number of International Runners signed up, as the event hopes to become Uganda’s biggest public fundraising event- helping more projects and people in Uganda to fulfil their potential.

We are up against some heavy competition to win the ‘Best International Event’ award, but it would certainly be an amazing achievement and ‘icing on the cake’ after a fantastic twelve months.

How can you help us win?

The awards are based on a voting system, so it’s the most votes wins! If you would like to help us win ‘Best International Event’ category, you can vote for us by clicking here. You’ll need to register, but the whole process takes less than two minutes, so it’s nice and quick.

A massive, massive thank you for voting for us! We really appreciate it!

Feel free to share this with friends, family and colleagues- we are up against some massive events, so every vote will help.

A big, BIG thank you to our runners!

Without our amazing International Runners, we couldn’t have had an event last year, let along been shortlisted for this award, so the biggest thank you to all our 2015 runners for making all this possible. And thank you to everyone who is joining us in 2016 too, who are continuing the legacy and helping the event to have an even bigger impact this year!

We’ll let you know how we get on…fingers crossed!!

And once again, a big thank you for voting! 🙂
